Lorenzo (Lawrence) F. Scaravelli, 91, on February 2, 2008, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS. Lawrence was the son of Marcello and Aldacisa (Cappaletti) of Ancona, Italy. Lawrence was born in Sault Saint Marie, Ontario, on July 17, 1916. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Anne (Bodak); and sister, Tina Ripley. He is survived by sons, Lawrence (Lance) Scaravelli and wife Lorna of Halifax and Chance Harbour; Nicoll (Nick) Scaravelli and wife Sheila of Halifax and Woodburn, NS; grandchildren: Larry (Kim) Scaravelli, Halifax; Linda Scaravelli, Banff, Alberta; Lauren Scaravelli, Halifax; Scott (Noelle) Scaravelli, Toronto; Darren Scaravelli, Halifax; great-grandchildren: Rachael, Laura, and Eva; sisters, Maria (Scaravelli) Gray and Philamena Scaravelli, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. Lawrence grew up in Montreal and joined the Canadian Navy during WWII. He met his wife Anne in 1939 and early in their marriage returned with her to New Glasgow. He owned Scaravelli Construction Ltd. for many years, was a Manager with Atlantic Concrete, Halifax, appointed to the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board, made Chairman and retired after 10 years, at the age of 77. He was an adherent of the Masons and Shriners, recently recognized for 60 years membership. During his life he was involved in various community organizations and enjoyed the camaraderie of many friends from all walks of life. We will remember always the joy of Sunday dinners, Italian music and the love of family as his legacy to us. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with visitation today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 with memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 6th at 11 a.m. Family flowers only.
