Famille Fortin

The Fortin family wishes to warmly thank the volunteer firefighters of the Hemmingford Fire Department and of the surrounding area for their tributes and their significant contribution to the civic funeral of Mr. Gaëtan Fortin who died on December 25th, 2018. Mr. Gaëtan Fortin was one of the founding members of the Fire Department of Hemmingford in 1958 and had been involved as a volunteer firefighter since that time, a 60-year period.

His remains were displayed at the Hemmingford fire station and a ceremony was led by Mr. Kelly Donoghue, Chaplain of the firefighters association of the State of New York representing the Clinton County. Gaëtan was led to his final resting place aboard his former Ford 1932 fire truck, a promise kept by Mr. Pat Tobin and Mr. Drew Somerville several years ago. He was followed by a procession of several fire trucks from the fire departments of the surrounding municipalities (Sherrington, Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, Lacolle, Mooers and Champlain).
In the same high regard that Gaëtan Fortin had for the firefighters organization of Hemmingford, so was the exemplary involvement of the volunteer firefighters of the department resulting in a momentous celebration in honor of Gaëtan Fortin.
