SMITH, Jim
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jim Smith in Kelowna, BC on Oct. 3, 2015. Jim was born in Regina, SK on Feb. 28, 1943. He was raised in Swift Current and graduated for SCCI. Much of his working life was spent in the area of insurance adjusting. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Nellie & Edmond Smith, and his niece, Kelli, as well as many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his children, Ryan (Laur) Smith, and Kristi (Jason) McCarty and their mother, Jan Smith, of Kelowna, BC, and by his beloved grandchildren, Jamison, Naiomi, Finlay, Rowan & Liadan. He is also survived by his sister, Alice, of Swift Current; two nephews, Brett (Amber) and Jarrett Downey, and two great-nephews, Rowan and Gracen, as well as several cousins. Jim touched a lot of hearts on his journeys around Kelowna, and his passing will leave a hole in the daily lives of many people. He will be remembered fondly for his dedication to running, his passion for sports and politics, as well as his pumpkin carving skills and his willingness to don a Santa hat at Christmas time. But most of all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, Oct. 9 from St. Charles Garnier Parish in Kelowna with Fr. Pat Monette, Celebrant.
