Passed away peacefully at The Agnes Pratt Home on December 23, 2009, after a lengthy illness, in her 95th year, of Creston South. Predeceased by husband Levi Hodder (1996); daughters: Hazel (1937), Marie Hodder (2001); step-daughter, Ann Dent (2005); grandson, David Hodder (1984), and her sons-in-law: Clarence Hodder (2001) and Micky Dent (1994). She leaves to cherish her memory, sons: Donald (Joan), Harvey (Pearl) and Enos (Edith); daughters: Carol Cleal (Sam), and Donna Foote (Gary); 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Violet Brushett (Marystown), and Muriel Mayo (Marystown). A sincere thanks to the professional staff at The Agnes Pratt Home, especially the teams on Southview and Pratt Place. Resting at the Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston South. Visiting hours are: Thursday, December 24, 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2:00 - 9:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Monday, December 28, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral service will take place from The Salvation Army Faith and Hope Citadel, Creston South at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28th. “Aunt Becky”, as she was known to her many friends, was an independent thinker, community worker, faithful adherent/ volunteer in her church and just a wonderful cook, quilt-maker and knitter in the Newfoundland traditions. Contributions to her memory may be made to The Salvation Army Faith and Hope Corps, Creston South or to The Agnes Pratt Home, St. John’s.
